Happy Technique Tuesday! Today we’re all making fun folds! These cards have more dimension, layers, and ‘wow’ factor than your regular card, so don’t forget to hop along and see what everyone else is making too.

I chose this accordion fold card that stuck out to me from a class a friend of mine designed. I changed up the colors and decorations, but I loved the fold! It’s a great way to show off a few different pieces of designer series paper…

Because it folds out like this!

To re-create this fun fold, here are the layers you’ll need:

  • Card base: 11″ x 5 1/2″ or 29.7 x 14.8 cm scored at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″, and 7″ or 4.5, 9, 13.5, and 18 cm on the long side
  • 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ or 6.4 x 6.4 cm piece in the same color
  • 5″ x 2 1/2″ scored at 2 1/2″ or 12.8 x 6.4 cm scored at 6.4 in the same color
  • Designer series paper in three patterns:
    • Pattern one: 3 7/8″ x 5 3/*” or 14.5 x 11.5 cm and 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ or 5.7 x 5.7 cm
    • Pattern two – cut two: 1 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ or 4.3 x 11.5 cm
    • Pattern three – cut two: 1 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ or 4.3 x 11.5 cm
  • Neutral – cut two: 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ or 5.7 x 5.7 cm

From there it’s just assembly and decoration! Fold your card base accordion style, alternating the DSP patterns along the sides, and adhere the smaller panels so that the folded one covers up the “inside” when the card is closed.

I also used two of my favorite “extra” tricks to give the card some pizzaz too! First I applied packing tape to the cardstock before I die cut it…

Quick Tip: Add packing tape to your card stock before die cutting it to add extra shine to your finished pieces!

And then I decorated the envelope with some more DSP as well!
