The Crafty Medic

Welcome to my part of the blog hop! If you missed the intro elsewhere, this is a blog hop where the participants are all taking part in Kylie Bertucci’s demonstrator training program in 2018-2019. We’re learning so much, so this is a fun little break from all of the business to share some of our creativity.

This month I decided to use this platform and the additional attention it gets my blog to do some good. I recently started using the hashtag #StampingDiversity to try to bring some attention to the amazing diversity our crafty friends bring to our lives. Many of my friends around the globe celebrate holidays that we don’t have stamp sets for, or have occasions in their lives that you can’t always find a commercial sentiment for. Over the next while (maybe weeks, maybe months, hopefully years) I will be sharing my creations with this hashtag and I hope you do too!

So my card this month is a little out of season, but one I’ve been looking forward to making. I have family who is from India so I’m familiar with some of their holidays and celebrations. Holi is one that just seems to lend itself to cards! I sort of CASEd this one from Gisela Suski who made a Holi card for my swap at On Stage, so I do need to thank her for the extra inspiration. If you don’t know what Holi is, here’s the description from Wikipedia, and you’ll find a lot more if you search for it as well:

Holi ( /ˈhoʊliː/; Sanskrit: होली Holī) is a Hindu spring festival, originating from the Indian subcontinent, celebrated predominantly in India, but has also spread to other areas of Asia and parts of the Western world through the diaspora from the Indian subcontinent, also known as the “festival of colours” or the “festival of love”. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships.
